ARAN Target Labour Party HQ with a Bloody Message

Just hours before the crucial vote on the Dog Breeding Establishments Bill in Dublin by Ministers, a team of 11 ARAN supporters – some wearing the most hideous looking face masks we could find of several Labour Party TD’s, held bloodied signs with quotes from their previous opposition to blood sports.  Other ARAN supporters held ‘blood’ covered ‘votes. The event was covered by RTE and TV3 national television, however programmes that evening did not include reports about the Dog Breeding Establishments Bill. An Irish radio station also called ARAN for on-air comment.

The photocall was highlighting how the Labour Party did a severe u-turn recently by opposing the Ward Union stag hunt which ended up passing and is now going into law. ARAN has kept up the pressure behind the scenes urging Labour to vote for strengthened legislation. Although yet again correspondence received by ARAN from Labour prior to yesterday’s vote was that the party were looking for several amendments which the RISE! Pro hunt campaign called for – it was literally word for word. ARAN is incensed that at such a critical time for Irish animal protection legislation, the Party have continued to back pro hunters.

ARAN is vowing to bring these issues back to life in the run up to the next general election and will be reminding potential voters of Labour’s reckless u-turn on vital legislation Irish animals’ so desperately need.
